MAPLE ROOM

(under 2 years old opened from 7.30am-6.00pm)

Our baby room is a warm, nurturing space where the youngest members of our nursery feel safe, loved, and supported. Each day is thoughtfully designed to meet the individual needs of every baby, with a flexible routine that balances care, play, and rest. Activities include sensory play, tummy time, singing, and stories, all aimed at encouraging exploration and early development. Our dedicated team works closely with families to create a loving, home-like environment where your baby can thrive. As babies learn through their senses, exploration and through trial and error, we aim to provide resources of heuristic play which are open-ended to encourage such exploration and thinking skills .

CHESTNUT ROOM

Ages from 2 years old to 3 years old

This large and spacious room caters for children from 24 months to 36 months which accesses the outdoor area, therefore children have the opportunity to free-flow between the indoor and outdoor play area throughout the day. The areas created and the activities provided are all based upon the child’s interests which are identified by the key worker. We have a range of stimulating areas around the rooms for children to explore which are regularly adapted to ensure engagement and excitement. The room consists of a messy zone, mark making area, a construction area, role play, cosy book corner and a sensory where natural resources are provided for children to expose, to be curious and to imagine. When your child turns two years old they will have a Progress Check; this will be a written assessment about your child’s development and give you the opportunity to meet your child’s key person to discuss their progress.

OAK ROOM

Ages from 3 years old to 5 years old

When your child is ready to move up to the Preschool Room they will benefit from carefully planned early years educational subjects (using the EYFS framework), and free play. They will develop social skills, independence and self-esteem. Our children are prepared for school by developing a range of literacy and numeracy skills and taking part in physical education opportunities. We encourage a range of activities including arts and crafts, sand and water, music, dance, IT, reading and of course the popular role-play area.

BUSY BEES ROOM

(for our Rising fives children preparing for school transition)

Our Busy Bees Room is thoughtfully designed for children aged 3 to 4 years, with a strong focus on developing essential skills to support a confident transition to school and the wider world.

Children work in small groups, enabling practitioners to plan purposeful, structured activities that promote key learning and life skills. Through these experiences, children develop turn-taking, patience, and cooperation, helping them to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with their peers.

A strong emphasis is placed on road awareness and understanding potential dangers. Children are supported to recognise hazards, follow clear rules, listen to adults, and make sensible choices through role play, stories, discussions, and practical experiences. These activities help children develop an awareness of how to look after themselves and others both within the nursery environment and in the community.

By combining early learning with important life skills, the Busy Bees Room provides a nurturing and purposeful environment that supports children’s independence, confidence, and readiness for the next stage of their learning journey.

Our Nursery Staff

The nursery is a privately owned, family-run business established in 2007. The owners take a hands-on approach and are fully involved in the day-to-day running of the setting. All members of the ABC Nursery family are dedicated to creating a caring, friendly, and nurturing environment for our children every day. Our staff are qualified and experienced in childcare, fully first-aid trained, and supported through ongoing professional development and our staff our employed directly by ABC Nursery a,Google Drivend we don’t use bank or agency staff. Some of our team members join us as trainees or apprentices and work towards achieving their childcare qualifications with our guidance and encouragement.

We are proud to offer our staff a wide range of opportunities and experiences. As a result, we enjoy excellent staff retention and a low turnover, providing consistency and stability for your little ones.

Continuous professional development is highly important to us. We actively encourage staff who are ambitious and motivated to keep improving themselves. This begins with a thorough induction programme, followed by ongoing short training courses and opportunities to pursue advanced or degree-level qualifications.

Every child is assigned a dedicated key person who supports them in settling into nursery life and takes responsibility for their day-to-day care. The key person also works closely with parents to document progress and support each child’s development.

Nutrition and Mealtimes

Meet the Staff

We are passionate about helping our children live a healthy and happy lifestyle. We ensure children have plenty of time to soak up the fresh air in our fabulous outdoor areas. Children have healthy balanced snacks to keep their energy levels up, ready for play and exercise. Fresh drinking water is available throughout the day and its consumption is encouraged by our caring early years professionals.

We work closely with parents of those children that are weaning. Mealtimes are well supervised to ensure children’s safety. All children are equipped with age and stage appropriate crockery, cutlery and seating such as low-level tables and chairs, some with safety straps for the youngest children.

Mealtimes promote good opportunities for calm social interactions and choice. We encourage and support children to develop good independence skills as they learn and practice how to pour their drinks and use serving spoons to dish their food. This helps children understand they have choice and helps them with decision making. We know children love helping and we know by giving children opportunities to help that this is a valuable part of their learning and development. We teach children life skills. This includes, where age and stage appropriate, children serving their own food, collecting their own cutleries and drinks, wiping tables and sweeping the floors.

Special Dietary Needs and/or Allergies: Please ensure we are made aware of any special requirements so we can prepare your child’s food accordingly. We are also proud holders of a five-star Food Hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency.
